Our client is a major Luxembourg private banking group with subsidiaries throughout Europe.
In view of reaching its ambitious goals, it is now hiring a legal counsel.
As a member of the legal service:
you provide pragmatic legal advice to the members of the executive committee of the group or of the bank as well as to the different bank departments;
you draft and keep the banking documentation up to date, including the general terms & conditions, the mandates for discretionary management, the contracts with other financial institutions and with service providers;
you ensure that the liquidation of successions are properly taken care of, that requests by rogatory commissions or for seizure of moneys on a client account are adequately handled;
you ensure that internal procedures and practices are in line with current and future legislation and prudential requirements;
you negotiate in a pre-contentious phase in view of finding a settlement with counterparties or evaluate whether action is required to recover claims by the bank and you follow up on pending litigation;
You are a point of contact for the prudential authorities;
You closely keep track of the legislative developments as well as of the case law at European and national level for all matters that are relevant to the bank.
You have a Master in Law, are perfectly bilingual FR/EN and master a third language;
You have at least 5 years’ relevant experience in a Luxembourg bank or law firm;
You are a good communicator and manage to explain complex legal issues in simple terms, both orally and written;
You are a team player who draws the attention of the other team members to interesting legal developments
You are hand-on, pro-active and you do not await instructions to undertake action.
